What is the grey frame around the card?
What is the grey frame around the card?
The grey frame on the screen is a "bleed area" of about 4 mm, where we cut the cards in the production process.
Trim: the final size of the printed products is referred to as the trim size.
Bleed: this is the area outside of the trim line that will get cut off. Even though it ultimately gets removed it’s still important for the production of your product.
If you have a photo which goes up to the edge of the card, this "bleed" should be covered by your photo. This prevents a white line appearing between the photo and card edge, as we cannot predict exactly where the cut in this 4 mm area will be (it's a mechanical process).
Be careful not to include any text in this area as it is likely to be cut off.

Why did I receive extra cards with my order?
Why did I receive extra cards with my order?
We sometimes include extra cards in orders, which might make it seem like something is missing or you've received more than expected. This typically occurs with sample orders, as we print in batches of 10 cards. These extra cards are complimentary and can be used as backups or keepsakes. You'll only be charged for the quantity you selected before checkout. While we aim to limit this for environmental reasons, we can't guarantee extra items with every order. Also, orders with extra cards won't include additional envelopes.

Can I order cards that each have a different design?
Can I order cards that each have a different design?
If you are looking for place cards, you can easily order cards with different names on each one. For other types of cards, you can order a set of 10 cards, all with the same design. This means that if you want to order 10 wedding cards, it is not possible to customize each card individually at this time. We are continually improving our products and hope to offer more customization options in the future. Thank you for your understanding!
When I arrange the names for one place card the positioning of another place card moves.
When I arrange the names for one place card the positioning of another place card moves.
If you make changes to one element on the place cards, the changes will apply to all names on the place cards.
To work around this, you can separate long names or names that require two lines onto different place cards. This means you will have two sets of place cards in your basket: one set for place cards with short or single-line names, and another set for place cards with long or two-line names.
Can I add another text on the place cards not just names?
Can I add another text on the place cards not just names?
In our place cards, there is only one text box available. This means you can only add text within that single text box. Because of this, it is not possible to add additional text to other parts of the card besides where the text box is located. However, you can still change the location of the text box to suit your design needs.
We hope this helps clarify the customization options for your place cards!

Why do I see an error message "overlapping text" on my card?
Our editor provides easy-to-use tools for creating your products on Optimalprint. Amoung tools that allows you to add text and photos, customize the text (font style, font size, colour, bold, italics), you will also see the grid lines that help you align the text boxes.
At the end of the editing process, just before adding the card to the basket, our system will analyze your design in order to detect if there is a sample message that was not changed, empty photo box or overlapping text. If yes, an error message will appear. You will be given the option to fix the issue or to ignore it.
We are constantly working on the accuracy of the error messages, however, sometimes the "overlapping text" error message might be triggered when the frames of the text boxes are overlapping, even though the text itself is not affected.

What to consider when designing your card?
What to consider when designing your card?
Image Resolution Requirements:
When uploading an image to our system, it is important to ensure that the resolution of your image is high enough to prevent it from looking "pixelated". Our system will automatically warn you if the resolution is too low, indicated by a red icon. If you see a yellow icon, it means that the photo you have uploaded is of medium quality.
We require a minimum resolution of 300 dpi for high quality print. However, the required resolution may vary depending on the size of the image frame. For larger image frames, a minimum of 1500x1500 pixels or 1 MB in size is recommended. This means that while some images may be suitable for smaller frames, they may not be suitable for full-page photos.
It is possible that the preview of your image may appear pixelated, even if the original photo is of good quality. This can happen when an image is zoomed or when an external image enhancing tool is used. To avoid this, we recommend using a different image or ensuring that the picture still looks good when zoomed in 3x. It is important to use sharp and bright photos, as they will be printed on greeting card stock rather than traditional photo paper.
While we understand that sometimes our customers may only have one photo available and the quality may not be ideal, we do offer the option to print a low-quality image. However, please keep in mind that this will reflect in the final printing quality and there may not be much we can do to improve it. If you would like to enhance your image, there are various tools available online that you may try using.

At Optimalprint we offer several paper & finishing options for cards - silk (with an optional glossy finish) and matt.
For cards with photos, we recommend silk cardstock (with or without the glossy finish). Matt paper works best for cards that will be written on.
Silk cardstock: Thick, 350 gsm paper with a smooth, silky surface. Excellent for vivid colors and giving your photos greater contrast and depth of colour. Please note: photos won't be as glossy as on photo paper. The gloss finish is made with a special UV varnish, giving your photo book a truly professional look.
Silk cardstock with glossy finish: Glossy coating/finish is an additional layer applied on the front and back of a folded design and on the front page of a flat card. It makes colours more vivid and vibrant, protects against scratches. However, it may make the colours a bit darker.
You can't write on the glossy surface of our products. However, please note that glossy coating is only applied to the front page of a flat format or to the outer pages of folded products (front and back). This means that you can write on the inner pages of a coated, folded product.
Matt cardstock: Thick, 300 gsm brighter white paper with a textured matt look. Great for text-based cards. The ink is absorbed into the cardstock, making it easier to write on this paper by hand. A glossy finish cannot be added. We don't recommend this card for photos.
You can choose the paper type before personalising your card:
or when you are in the "Editing platform" which is shown below :

Cardstock and weights
Your wedding stationery will clue your guests into details of your wedding’s formality, colour scheme, and overall tone. Keeping that in mind, we offer three types of card-type and coating:
Silk card: Thick, 350 gsm card with a smooth, silky surface. Excellent for vivid colours and photos. Photos won't be as glossy as on photo paper.
The glossy finish can be added to the front/outside of silk cards if you want an extra touch, making colours and photos look really vibrant.
